My name is Mike Scott, I'm a Scotland based business consultant and marketing expert. I'm an exited founder having previously built and sold Scotland’s largest social media agency within 6 years start to finish, fully bootstrapped, in a multi-million sale to PA Media Group. An experienced business leader, social and digital marketing expert with over 20 years in the industry, I have worked on many household global brands, helping them to develop their strategies and deliver outstanding results.
If you are looking for a business consultant to come and work with your team, I now work with business leaders and their teams on a fractional and board advisory basis to help them drive growth, position their brand and build towards exit (if that's the ambition). From complete start-ups looking to launch their brands to established businesses who may be struggling to grow, I will help them to define what makes them special, give the business direction and break down any barriers that are preventing growth.

what makes a good business consultant?
There's no right or wrong answer to this question as it all entirely depends on what you need for your individual business. That said, if you are looking for a business consultant based in Scotland, there might be a few things to consider:

Have they been there and done it before?
There's countless examples of consultants who have never owned their own business and follow a templated approach that they have been taught. Having started, grown and sold multiple businesses, I feel I can offer advice that others might not.

Are they specialists in one area?
If you need growth, your ideal consultant is likely to be a specialist in finance yet many business consultants can align closer to a CFO. I cover everything from sales and marketing to internal culture and financial rigour so if you are looking to have a business consultant who can cover multiple areas rather than hiring a full board of specialists, this might be something to consider.

The business landscape dramatically changes depending on location. How you market to your audience in one area to another often changes and you need a consultant who understands this and the location behaviours.
