My name is Mike Scott, I'm an exited founder having previously built and sold Scotland’s largest social media agency within 6 years start to finish, fully bootstrapped, in a multi-million sale to PA Media Group. An experienced, Scotland based non-exec director and board advisor, with over 20 years in the industry, I have worked on many household global brands, helping them to develop their strategies and deliver outstanding results.
If you are looking for an experienced non-exec based in Scotland to come and join your board, I now work with business leaders and their teams on a fractional and non-exec basis to help them drive growth, position their brand and build towards exit (if that's the ambition). From complete start-ups looking to launch their brands to established businesses who may be struggling to grow, I will help them to define what makes them special, give the business direction and break down any barriers that are preventing growth.

what I provide as a non-exec director
As somebody who spent life pre-exit focused on growing my business rather than my own personal brand, I don't come with a long list of previous non-exec appointments as some others may. I'm far from being a portfolio non-exec. But, what I can provide is years of lived experience from growing my own business, fully bootstrapped to a multi-million exit in less than 6 years. I can overlay that with 20 years marketing experience where I regularly sat with boards advising them on their brand strategy to increase awareness, value and sales for their business. I also have a fairly healthy black book of business contacts if that is of interest...
So, while I don't have the non-exec history of others, I do provide:

Lived experience
I've started my own business(es), grew them and exited successfully. I've seen the highs of rapid growth where we expanded an average of 30% YoY, and I have also seen the lows of business during Covid where I was losing over £40K every month at the start. The journey of every business owner is different and while my experience might not mirror yours, I can hopefully give advice on how my experience might help you.

I've successfully exited
The process of deciding to exit through due diligence and then onto the eventual exit day and what happens next is possibly one of the craziest rollercoasters you'll ever go on. Having the right advisors on your side during this is absolutely crucial.
